Background - PacifiCorp owns and operates various electric generating facilities in the United States. Ambrio were commissioned by PacifiCorp to review existing operating practices and control and information systems within PacifiCorp's fossil-fired plant, and the initiatives currently underway to replace and enhance these systems. A second objective was to allow Ambrio employees, who had been involved in the deregulation of the UK electricity industry, to share their experience of the effects of such change.

Solution - Visits were made to a number of PacifiCorp facilities; Wholesale Energy Supplies in Portland, Carbon, Huntington, Hunter, Naughton, Jim Bridger, Dave Johnston, Wyodak & Gadsby Power Plants and PacifiCorp Corporate Headquarters in Salt Lake City.

Following the visit a report was prepared which detailed our findings, explored commercial opportunities and included a framework Control and Information Strategy for PacifiCorp.
